Phil,

I'm glad you and others liked the idea...and that John Chew offered his services so promptly.

I also regret my omission of Alan Frank from the list of luminaries who put consensus games on the map.

Alan, I meant no offense; your work was fantastic and much appreciated.

(The omission just proves I'm not only forgetting words in my advancing age, I'm forgetting sequences of words! (ALAN = a large hunting dog; FRANK = what I try to be)

I think your question regarding SOWPODS and OSW will remain moot, unless someone wants to moderate such a game. Yes, the games would become out of synch quickly, but the notion I had was that these should be three separate games: CGP players could put down their arguments and simply witness how different, challenging, interesting each of the dictionary choices make the game.

I wasn't expecting that every CGP member would have to be able to vote on every move... I thought the pace could go faster than 1 move per week. But I'm happy to see the idea caught fire, and I think it may help us reach a higher plane for

ongoing discussions.

As for my vote, I'll go with HYOID at 8D. I, too, like to avoid keeping O's, and like the flexibility of having the F to hit the 9G spot as an ace in the hole. I also like - in a practical sense - knowing that some opponents would not be sure that HYOID is a noun, and might pass up playing some bingo, fearing that the -S hook of HYOID would be challenged off.
