I don't think this position is a complete no-brainer. We do have two other choices at 12a -- JANES and JEANS.

I vote for JEANS 12a (56 pts.).

The DL leave seems to have better synergy than LN. If we draw a duplicate consonant, DDL seems more flexible and more likely to score well than LNN -- and there are 5 N's to draw, as compared to 2 D's.

Now, regarding how to decide between JANES and JEANS -- that's the tricky part. True, the E is somewhat easier for opp. to bingo with, but considering that he hit us with CHAYOTE after we made our best attempt to close down the dbl-dbl, he'll probably play something like CONQUEST if we play the E and something like ADEQUATE if we play the A (not to mention that the J gives him a shot at bLOWJOBS --- hmmm, do you think I might be too paranoid to play this game well?) Bingo chances aside, the vowel-consonant-vowel pattern of JANES makes it easier for opp. to make a 30ish point play on row 13 than the vowel- vowel-consonant pattern of JEANS.

Looking forward to reading what others think.
