Jerry, you offered:

We certainly need a bingo, and keeping TRAN will not hurt our chances of that.

I respectfully differ about the certainty of needing a bingo at this point. But the advocates of UT, OUT, TUI, by sacrificing points and turnover, are putting themselves in a must-bingo situation. There are the warm spots (see below) of h1, 5k, and L4, any one of which, if taken by opp, precludes 8LBs thru the E at 5j. TRAN thru the N on column L is not promising and 8LBs thru that N or next column's S are taken out if opp takes DWS at 5k or L4. With TRAN (or even TRAIN) I would not bet on 7LBs starting with a vowel at 12g or a two-A 8LB thru the A at 14b.

With ?SSQXEEEEEEEE among the remaining 45 unseen tiles (38 in bag), the higher tile turnover and scores of either CATTIER (5e) or INTRANT (L2), potentiate greater shots at getting one or some combination of these tiles for: ZEE (13b, 36) 5LW ending with S (d1, ~30+) 5LW starting with S (h11 ~30+) QUILT,QUINT,QUIRT (h1, 45), needing just Q and L,N,R after CATTIER XU (a14, 35) QUITE,QUATE,QUIRE,QUARE,QUALE (b2, 42)

My money's on these prospects after the 18 or 16 garnered from CATTIER or INTRANT (for two-turn totals of 50-60 points) than the must-bingo hole we're in after UT, OUT, or TUI, with no guarantees of having a bingo and being able to play it when drawing to TRAN or TRAIN.

Mike
