p 9d oft 23 gets a slight nod over e4 LOFTY for 22. The slightly negative l, and somewhat consonant heavy rack would ordinarily justify the 1 point sacrificed. However, here if opponent doesn't have an S oft leaves the board very difficult for opponent, while the BOGS hook makes it likely any seven letter bingos will play. Superior defense and an extra point should outweigh the slightly clunky L.

the largest play is 9b FEODS for 33 I would deem the difference between LT and DELS to be well worth the sacrifice of ten points. 9 b FEOD is 25 but retaining the E has to be worth the 2 points foregone.
