Everybody--

As promised, here are the complete results for the Oakland tournament last Sunday, plus a correction to the unusual ruling I reported that evening.

Division A--

1. Jerry Lerman 4-2 +262
2. Eleanor Traeg 4-2 -158
3. Robin Levin 3-3 +324
4. Stu Goldman 3-3 +65
5. Bruce Ward 3-3 -68
6. Rita Dady 1-5 -425

Division B--

1. Andrea Michaels 5-1 +487
2. John Karris 5-1 +225
3. Jeff Dubin 3-3 -228
4. Robert Smith 2.5-3.5 +41
5. Paul Beusterian 2.5-3.5 -71
6. Bob Nowacki 0-6 -454

Division C--*

1. Joseph Fitzgerald 5-1 +398
2. Noah Kanter 5-1 +308
3. Irene Averell 4-2 +143
4. John Jeffries 2-4 -60
5. Therese Berreyesa 2-4 -239
6. Lynn Joseph 0-6 -650

Division D--

1. Gordon Dow 5-1 +640
2. Jacqueline Stewart 4-2 +219
3. Samuel Harris 4-2 -4
4. Benjawan Becker 2-4 -255
5. John C. Green, Jr. 2-4 -384
6. Laurie Lu Longway 1-5 -216

*For those who tabulate the positive and negative cumes to see if they come out equal, the 100 point discrepancy in this division is due to Noah Kanter's shorting himself 100 points on cume in reporting one game. The penalty on him was coming in second instead of first!

As for the correct incident I reported on, I got it finally from two people at the club tonight. The version of the story at the tournament was that of the player who wanted an overdraw ruling, and who would not let anybody else talk, though the actual happening was perhaps more inclined to get the overdraw ruling than the version told.

What actually happened was, the player going first drew seven tiles and placed them face down on the table. As this player put them on the rack, one was missing. Thinking that perhaps only six had been drawn, another tile was drawn.

After a bingo had been played, but before the other player made a move, the missing tile was found under the board. I was only told that a tile was under the board, so I assumed it was from the previous game. My ruling, as was Ms. Pughsley's, the TD, is still that the tile found should be put in the bag. Actually, the director should have been called when it was noted that a tile was missing. The TD stated that she would have lifted up the board, and the lost would be found.
