Following, I hope, Eileen Gruhn's clear and reasonable example...

I like arcane words, but find some OSPD entries offend my aesthetic sensibilities. I understand my sense of word aesthetics is idiosyncratic. I use and even enjoy OSPD because it's standard and way better than chaos. My limited exposure to the OSW leads me to believe that there are even more "offensive" words there (I remain on the aesthetic, not the PC, plane here), but I would use it if it were accepted as standard.

I would most like to see SO+ (pronounced "so-plus", the _intersection_ of OSW and OSPD with an english-world dictionary committee given authority to add a few hundred sensible words).

On the challenge side of things, I much prefer the North American challenge rule. I expect I could play with free challenges, but it seems a diminished game to me. I offered the "challenge rook" approach some months ago--and got a lot of private enthusiam for the idea--as a slight compromise.

I'd be delighted to live in a world where I could play with any english language scrabble player using SO+ and the challenge rook rule.
