Subject: CNSC 2000 general mailing #2

This mailing is going out to all of the 50 players who have registered for the 2000 CNSC and who have e-mail addresses, as well as to the two alternate players (Mike K and Gene R). I believe the following players do not have e-mail addresses:

George Macaulay, Joe Peters, Leon Fernandes, John Robertson, Mike Ebanks, Hilda Schlechter Mike Krepakevich

If you can pass on a copy of this to them, please do so and let me know that you have done so. I will otherwise be contacting those seven players myself.

I'm looking forward to seeing you all this Friday and to spending an exciting SCRABBLE® weekend together. Please remember to arrive in time for us to start playing at 7:00 P.M. Friday evening. If you get stuck en route, call me on my cell-phone at 416-876-7675 to avoid ceding your place to an alternate player, as happy as that would make them.

You should by now have made your travel and accommodation arrangements. If you are still looking for a place to stay at this late date, please let me know and I'll ask on our club mailing list. The tournament site is easily accessible by public transit, and parking in the neighbourhood is plentiful but expensive. On Sunday morning however, we start playing before the subways start running, but the parking is cheaper.

We will be providing boards and Protiles. You must bring your own clocks. You may wish to bring your own racks and tile bags. There will be a supply of scoresheets for those that prefer to use the standard issue ones, but their use is of course not mandatory.

As mentioned in mailing #1, the complete schedule is up on the NSA web site, and is unlikely to change much at this point. The last game should end on Sunday around 5:30 P.M., with an awards ceremony to follow soon thereafter. If you're one of the two finalists that play on Monday morning, you should be done by 3:00 P.M. if you place second. If you are the new champion, then you will need to stay in Toronto for at least an extra day and possibly two to meet with the media.

If you have any questions that need a prompt response, please feel free to call me anytime between 10:00 A.M. and 10:00 P.M. ET at 416-876-7675. Questions whose responses can wait indefinitely can as usual be sent to my e-mail address, poslfit@gmail.com. That phone number is my cell-phone number, and may be given out as an emergency contact number during the event.

See you all soon,

John
