To all,

I've always considered my first real tournament experience to have been my first Toronto tournament. Even though I'd been to a couple of Step tournaments before that, this was the first regularly scheduled tournament that I attended. It was also the first that I won any prize money at, and I still remember going up to have Mike shake my hand and give me 3rd place money for the novice division. The next year, I was playing that same tournament as an expert.

Mike was one of the people who inspired me to start running a tournament in Buffalo, and he constantly helped spread the word among his club members. Having been to his club several times, I was always impressed by his professionalism even in a casual setting. Some members of our club will be there to pay there respects; unfortunately, I cannot attend but I will make a donation in his name. I'm very glad I knew him, and his memory will be a good part of me. Shalom.
