Canada at the WSC
Canada will send seven players to the
1997
World SCRABBLE Championships:
- David Boys,
who qualifies as the (1995) World Champion
- Adam Logan,
who qualifies as the (1996) Canadian Champion
- The three players who had the greatest peak NSA ratings after their
fiftieth game during the qualifying period of May 1996 to May 1997:
- Two players who finished best at an eighteen-round qualifying tournament
held June 6-8 in Montreal, using John Chew's Minipods 1997 lexicon
(TWL96 plus OSW twos, threes, their inflections, and longer words with
two and three letter inflections) and NSA rules, restricted to players who
had attained a minimum qualification period peak rating of 1800:
- In the event that Adam, Joel, Libero, Robin, Jim or Albert is unable to
compete,
Andrew Golding
will take their place, as the third finisher at the qualification tournament.
