Subject: FAQ version changes
Message-id: <199710260539.WAA07490@user2.teleport.com>
There's now a web page that lets you see the difference between two editions of the main part of the Scrabble FAQ (as posted to Usenet) from dates of your choosing. For now[1], that page is in the FAQ "alpha testing" directory[2],
<URL:http://www.teleport.com/~stevena/scrabble/alpha/faqdiff.html>
The FAQ is posted on about the 15th of each month to Usenet[3]. It appears there in two parts. The main part, subtitled "General Information," has what's not in the "Supplement", which contains the NA club roster and upcoming tournaments, and contacts for Scrabble organizations worldwide.
The FAQ also exists on the Web, starting at
<URL:http://www.teleport.com/~stevena/scrabble/faq.html>[4]
Since the Web version, though more comprehensive and useful[5], is in multiple files and updated continually, only the Usenet version has distinct "editions".
Feedback is most welcome.

[1] I'll have it explicitly available from the FAQ starting page when I'm more confident of its utility and the stability of the programming.
[2] http://www.teleport.com/~stevena/scrabble/alpha/, where other things of uncertain polish can be browsed.
[3] To the newsgroups news.answers, rec.games.board, rec.puzzles.crosswords and rec.answers.
[4] Does enclosing a URL in <URL:...> help people jump to it from their mail readers?
[5] Mattel/Spear find it useful enough to cite on their web site, <URL:http://www.mattelscrabble.com/en/clubs/>. Hasbro/Milton Bradley's site doesn't see fit to refer to it, even in their "links" page, <URL:http://www.scrabble.com/community/links.html>.
