Just got back from Oakland Monthly, after profusely thanking RFelt for convincing me to go. Although disappointed by my 2-4 record, I was amply compensated for sitting in the chilly restaurant, trying to hear my opponents count their game saving bingos over the boxing match on TV, verifying their victories just shortly before Bob stopped by and filled me in on his reservations regarding current proposals for World's qualifying system, the trouble with using spread as an additional indicator of skill, and JJ Chew's flawed paradigms.
This discussion ended prematurely, when I realized I had to get home to report the top three players in the expert section:
1. Bob Felt (RFelt) 5-1 2 John Kerris (Bugger) 5-1 3. C. Pughsly 4-2Shirley Ritz won Group B, and "somebody else" came in second according to my contact with the that division.
