PITTSBURGH's 7th ANNUAL HALLOWEEN TOURNAMENT

Whew! It's over for another year! No major mishaps -- no difficult adjudication problems, no litigious altercations, just a lot of good games, great food (thanks to Club #352 members) and cooperative weather (a light drizzle, perfect for Scrabble.) Our best turnout ever. Coveted Tondra trophies (they get better looking each year) were "Well Done Pittsburger Supremes" (complete with lettuce, tomato, cheese and lettuce on a sesame seed bun) on a Scrabble board in shades of red, white and blue and went to the top spots in each division.

High play: Richard Buck, Flo Spanfelner tied at 131
High Loss: Gordon Shapiro (420 to to Jean Carol's 427)
High Game: Tim Anglin (563)
Last Gasps: (best record Sunday after losing record Saturday) Lisa Deift, Jerome Boyd, Gary Perman, Gus Benge

* This lady innocently accompanied her friend (Gaye Grote who won the Rec Division) to see the beautiful Pennsylvania fall foliage. Instead, she decided to play at the last minute, had a real baptism by fire and handled all 13 losses with a grace and laughter. She was delighted to win a deluxe Scrabble set!

Various other silly, funny, weird and great prizes for 20 diverse categories including cooking, baking, diet & fitness, crafts, aggression, Australia, Halloween, Christmas, Pittsburgh, wild west, travel, chemicals, mechanics, and ancient Greece!

Okay okay. Here are the final standings: Cash prizes (65%) thru 4th place in top two divisions; thru 6th in bottom two. .
