2012 Prague MSF SCRABBLE EB Commentary: Before the Tournament

We begin announcements a few minutes early, at 1:55. I tell players about the schedule change: we will be playing six straight rounds before breaking at 8:00 P.M. for a reception in the Blue Note Bar featuring an open bar, hors d'oeuvres, magicians and caricature artists, then returning to play the last two games from 9:30-11:30 (players may opt to resume play at 9:00 instead, by mutual consent).

I introduce the organizer of the event, Living It Loving It CEO Dave Brannan, who welcomes the players and announces that the next two Mind Sports Festivals in February and April in Europe will feature the same €10,000 guaranteed prize pool, that there will likely be another one in August, and a return to Prague in December of next year. The news is greeted with enthusiastic applause.
