This is the first tournament that I've run where I haven't been printing and posting standings, just pairings. Players check how they're doing by looking at the two electronic scoreboard displays, and so far no one has commented about the absence of printouts. Does anyone know offhand which is more carbon-friendly, running two LCD monitors for 27 hours or printing 54 sheets of paper on an inkjet printer?

Seen this round between Pakorn Nemitrmansuk (THA) and Jakkrit Klaphajone (THA): HENHOUSE. Between Tony Sim (SGP) and Panupol Sujjayakorn (THA): opening FIGURE extended to CON-FIGURE for the triple, with CONDYLES (protuberances on bones, the anagram of SECONDLY) then played down from the C.

There are about twenty people crowded around Pakorn and Jakkrit while they try to finish their game. No one sees anything unusual about this. If I played here, I think I would try to play as quickly as I could to avoid last-minute kibitzers.

Winning 1250 baht each (as long as they finish out of the top 3) for being undefeated today over five games are Charnrit Khongthanarat (THA) at +934 (on top for a fourth consecutive round), Atiruth Sakdiyakorn (THA) at +573, Adrian Tamas (ROM) at +359, Panupol Sujjayakorn (THA) at +329 and Marut Siriwangso (THA) at +295.

I've just been told that under Thai rules, the maximum earnable spread in a game is 350 points. Fortunately, Charnrit Khongthanarat (THA) only beat Moses Adeh Owugah (NGA) by 345 points in Round 2, so no standings have to be changed, but I've got some code to change.

There's a party for us soon, starting at the Panthumwan Princess Hotel at the other end of MBK mall. I'll be posting today's photos after the party, when I get back to my hotel room.
