Adrian Tamas (ROM), fresh from his forfeit win in the previous round, faced the undefeated youth champion Charnrit Khongthanarat (THA) at Board 1, but lost in a 513-379 blowout, pushing Charnrit's spread over a thousand to +1074, well ahead of the other undefeated player, Marut Siriwangso (THA) at +469. Atiruth Sakdiyakorn (THA) is still at work, so Panupol Sujjayakorn (THA) gets a bye this round and ends up second among the 6-1s behind Nawapadol Sayavesa (THA), ahead of Adrian and Noppadon Dechatiwong Na Ayutthaya (THA). Lunchtime, and staff have brought me Chinese takeout again, yum! Pakorn Nemitrmansuk (THA) sees that he is playing Nigel Richards (NZL) after lunch and comes by to discuss pairings. He is relieved that, unlike in previous years, he is unlikely to spend several rounds playing Nigel, and thanks me for coming. I spent the lunch break adding to the tsh ScoreBoard command, so that for Thai players it only displays their first name (which is the only one they usually use), and for players with Chinese names from Malaysia and Singapore their family name is listed first. |
