Helen Gipson (Sco) beats Chinedu Okwelogu (NGA) 375-354 to complete a Maltese hat trick: last weekend's European Open, the mid-week unrated Cecil Muscat Invitational, and now the MISO.

She finishes 18-6 +1124, ahead of Chinedu Okwelogu (NGA) 16-8 +1051 and Chris Lipe (USA) +963, with Dan Sandu (ROM) getting the rating class prize.

In the B Division, a cheer goes up from the scrum around the scoreboard as the last result is entered, and it's a 407-393 win for Eileen Meghen (IRL), giving her a 17-7 +910 record, ahead of first-time competitor Osaghaede Omijeh (NGA) 16-8 +1265 and Maureen Hoch (ISR) +979. The B rating class prize goes to Pauline Cilia (MLT).

Prizes were awarded by Mr. Dunstan Attard, director of the Malta Sports Council, which recognizes Scrabble as an official sport in Malta and helps fund this wonderful annual event.
