2013 Yokohama ST Commentary: Round 1

The event begins with a seven-round round robin. We are running Zyzzyva for word challenges (5 point penalty per word), with event staff (Mihoko Terasaki and Kristen Chew this round) running challenges to the computer.

So far, Warodom Geamsakul (JPN) and Keiichiro Hirai (JPN) are keeping us the busiest, with four challenges so far. I think all of them have gone KC's way. ZOOEAE+UNDERO SQUALOR STEAKING* TEAKING*.

Next to them, alternate player Tomu Terasaki is playing Kien Hung Yeo (MYS). Henry is calling out his scores in Japanese: good for him!

Henry ends up beating Tomu 572-99 (including a 60-point time penalty for Tom) to take a substantial early lead. In second place is Yoshihisa Itsubaki (JPN) at +141; the other two winners were Keiichiro Hirai (JPN) and Kunihiko Kuroda (JPN).
