Helen Gipson (Sco) trailed Bob Violett (Eng) by more than 120 points, after Bob triple-tripled CHESTILy on his third turn. She came back with a triple-triple of her own (ANOESTRI, 122) later on though, followed by ZOEAE alongside it for 103 immediately after and eventually eked out a 505-501 win. Nice high loss for Bob; the win lets Helen maintain a one-game lead over Lukeman Owolabi (Sco), Chris Lipe (USA) and Steve Polatnick (USA).

The three leaders lose their games in B; Maureen Hoch (ISR) and Sammy Mangion (MLT) remain a game ahead of Mario Seychell (MLT), Brid Ni Bhriain (IRL) and Osaghaede Omijeh (NGA).
