The first round of the final day started only a few minutes late, and only because I refused to let anyone start until those players who had hidden their equipment to allow for a speedy departure at the end of the day brought it back out again.

In A, top-ranked Helen Gipson (Sco) faces third-ranked Lukeman Owolabi (Sco) at Board 1.

First result: Evan Cohen (ISR) beats Omri Rosenkrantz (ISR) 504-379. Helen beats Lukeman 449-429, while second-ranked Steve Polatnick (USA) loses a close game 403-409 to countryman Chris Lipe (USA). Helen widens her lead to three games, ahead of Chinedu Okwelogu (NGA), Chris, Theresa Brousson (MLT) and Steve.

In B, top-ranked Sammy Mangion (MLT) faces sixth-ranked Eileen Meghen (IRL) at their top board.

Sammy has no such luck, losing 400-478 to top seed Eileen Meghen (IRL), remaining ahead of Osaghaede Omijeh (NGA) and Brid Ni Bhriain (IRL) only on spread.
