We have four players left in contention for the top place: David Eldar (AUS) from Australia, Helen Gipson (Sco) from Scotland, Theresa Brousson (MLT) from here in Malta, Steve Polatnick (USA) from the United States. Eldar has a lead of 1, 1½ and 2 games over the others.

Eldar and Gipson win, leaving third-ranked Brousson in a do-or-die situation. Eldar 22 +2208, Gipson 21 +2085, Brousson 19½ +1401. Polatnick can still hope for second place, but cannot reach first with 19 +527 and three rounds to go.
