The top few places going into this round are Thacha Koowirat (THA) 21-6 +1274, Pakorn Nemitrmansuk (THA) 19-8 +1050, Helen Gipson (Sco) 18-9 +1383, Jakkrit Klaphajone (THA) +1336, Vannitha Balasingam (MYS) +971, Ming Hui Hubert Wee (SGP) +923, Taewan Sutthasin (THA) +728.

After this round and the next, the top two contenders will play a two- or three-round Thai final (about which more later). Thacha has clinched a place in the finals, and is therefore Gibsonized. The King-of-the-Hill pairs Pakorn-Helen, Jakkrit-Vannitha, Hubert-Taewan. The remaining finalist will need at least 20 wins, and since Pakorn's spread is relatively low, he likely needs to win both his games to qualify.

Thacha loses to Peter Arreola (PHL) 567-369, but it doesn't matter.

Helen beats Pakorn, Jakkrit beats Vannitha, and Taewan beats Hubert, leaving four players at 19-9: Helen +1474 about to play Jakkrit +1355, and Pakorn +959 about to play Taewan +869.
