We were going to move the stream feed over to the poker players this round, but an outcry on the forum led to a one-round stay so that we could watch world top-rated Conrad Bassett-Bouchard (USA) try to take down the undefeated Nigel Richards (NZL). Conrad gave it his best shot, but ended up unable to fish the right tiles out in the end, going down 410-348.

Alastair Richards (AUS) remains three games back, and an astonishing four players are 4.5 games behind Nigel (it's surprising that so many players have half-win scores): Conrad, Helen Gipson (Sco), Adam Logan (CAN) and Michael McKenna (AUS).

Seen on boards by Craig Beevers: FRAMPOLD (fiery), BUZZIEST, TOWHEE (a common finch), MONOFILS (a single filament of synthetic fibre), CZARINA (wife of a czar) and TAGAREEN (a scrap dealer's store).
