Well, there's another Scrabble first. I got to practise my rusty French shushing a group of ESports (?) players who were doing a rowdy postmortem just outside our playing room. I should probably learn how to say "Could you keep it down please, people are trying to play Scrabble" in more languages.

Nigel Richards (NZL) is playing Kevin McMahon (IRL) at the feature board this round, but the video stream has been shutdown to switch over to a poker tournament for the rest of the day, so it's just practice with the equipment, and the special feeling that comes from playing behind stanchions. Next round, we'll be moving Nigel to a regular Table 1, as technicians need to get under the table to remove some video gear.

This just in - Nigel has lost to Kevin! Kevin says "I got ahead early, and just stayed ahead." That's usually Nigel's strategy.

Alastair Richards (AUS) lost however, to Wojtek Usakiewicz (POL) 387-394, and remains three games behind. 3.5 games off the pace now are Conrad Bassett-Bouchard (USA) and Adam Logan (CAN), who is on a four-game winning streak.

Seen on boards this round by Craig Beevers: DERRIERE SNIFTER AWEATHER ANGINOSE YCLED.
