Olga Visser's (AUS) opponent forgot to empty the bag, and neither player noticed until two turns later. They called for Ravee, who instructed them to roll the game back until the moment the offence occurred, and replay the game from there. Preedee Kongthanarat (THA) saw that Nigel Richards (NZL) had good tiles toward the end of their game at Board 2, and blocked a bingo lane ending in D so that any word played to it would have to end in a letter hooking -LA, another hooking -EN, and then the D, even though it left Preedee behind by 30 points. The tactic didn't pay off. Nigel's rack was ?ACEPRS: can you find the bingo he played in the blocked lane? Hint: it wasn't SPECtRA, it did play to the -D. Nigel adds that he forewent the bingo SACCADES on his previous turn, fishing instead for 12 points to maintain a lead and avoid giving Preedee an S to play to. Preedee is by the way the 16-year-old younger brother of Youth Champion Charnrit Khongthanarat (THA), and a strong player in his own right, even if he disagrees with his older brother about how to spell their family name. Charnrit Khongthanarat (THA) loses to Jason Katz-Brown (USA) 362-408 so both end the round 9-2, respectively +1251 and +1013. Adrian Tamas (ROM), after a 457-455 recounted victory over Akshay Bhandarkar (IND), moves up from 5th to 3rd place, also at 9-2. Nigel leads six other players at 8-3, with a spread of +819.
