Players are rushing through their games exceptionally quickly to rejoin the scrum around Board 1; I fear for their quality of play. By the end of the round, there are so many players trying to see the top board that some have given up and have moved to Table 3 to see the last other game in progress, between Apirat Choomai (THA) and Ayorinde Saidu (NGA).

I just had the cool experience of hearing a Thai announcer spell out the word 'poslfit' over the loudspeaker, advertising the event web site. No wonder response time is getting a bit sluggish!

Nigel Richards (NZL) beats Siu Hean Cheah (SGP) to temporarily climb to second place at 19-8 +1248, but his two-point 439-437 win won't hold after Pakorn Nemitrmansuk (THA) 18-8 +1404 and Jason Katz-Brown (USA) 18-8 +1291 finish playing. They were neck and neck for a while, but Pakorn bingoed SPIRInG (74) and then played JAXIE# (70) on his next turn, giving Pakorn the win and the other seat in the finals.
