At Board 1, Charnwit Sukhumrattanaporn (THA) beats Jason Katz-Brown (USA) 535-392 to take first place for the first time this tournament, 14-3 +1041. Jason is the only player one game back, 13-4 +1190.

Charnwit opened with BANDIES. Jason lost his second turn on playing ODORATES* through a D, and then fished off the two Os for two blanks. Charnwit bingoed TERTIAL, Jason replied RETASte but remained a bingo behind. A few turns later, Charnwit's CRYSTAL and Jason's GALENITE left Charnwit still ahead by 89 points. Both players had reasonably balanced tiles late in the game, but Charnwit was able to get down ALIENISM, and the only reason the spread wasn't wider was that Jason caught him out with PQT.

Two games behind Charnwit at 12-2 are Nigel Richards (NZL), Pakorn Nemitrmansuk (THA), Lukeman Owolabi (NGA) and Helen Gipson (Eng).

Phuttaphong Moolasarn (THA) has a two-point lead in the handicap standings over Charnrit Khongthanarat (THA), with 22+12 to the latter's 22+10.
