In order to avoid everyone simply playing the same opponents as last round, we have made a small adjustment to the announced pairings, and are restricting players to a single repeat (rather than double repeat) for this round only.

I've asked and learned what is going on immediately behind us: the Thai Ministry of Education has generously arranged for large numbers of rural students to come to Bangkok for the weekend to attend introductory crossword games, which will be running for the rest of the event. Ravee Joradol is similarly busy giving seminars to groups of three hundred teachers at a time, on how to get started with teaching crossword games in school.

Weera Saengsit (THA) finished his game against Olga Visser (AUS) early, on account of most of his plays being bingoes: SEAFOOD DELETION UNIFIES SEROTINE REGALIA INTERACT. Final score: 608-283.

My production schedule is being complicated a little by the fact that I have just received the first result from next round (Pichai Limprasert (THA) 463 Gerald Carter (Eng) 394) before the last game from this round has completed (Board 1). The players find it a little confusing too: twice I've been asked to start a missing opponent's clock, only to have to point out to them that the opponent in question is still playing his game at the next table.

Pakorn Nemitrmansuk (THA) loses to David Eldar (AUS) 420-435 in what was by far the last game to report in. This closes the gap to one game, with Pakorn still in the lead at 14-3 +1205 but David now within one game of him at 13-4 +715. Three players are two games back: Ming Hui Hubert Wee (SGP), Jason Katz-Brown (USA) and Chollapat Itthi-Aree (THA), who defeated respectively Komol Panyasophonlert (THA), Bob Jackman (AUS) and Kian Boon Liew (SGP).
