Nigel Richards (NZL) wins his eighth in a row, against Ming Hui Hubert Wee (SGP), 402-391, and is at least temporarily in fourth place at 16-8 +1349. The three KOTHs that remain in the schedule though mean that he's still a long shot for the finals, as he'll end this round either two or three games from the top.

David Eldar (AUS) reports a 517-343 win over Odette Carmina Rio (PHL) at Board 2, so he'll stay in second place, 18-6 +935.

Pakorn Nemitrmansuk (THA) is still playing Pichai Limprasert (THA) at Board 1. If he wins, he pulls ahead and is not quite Gibsonizable, as he could still lose three straight and Pichai or Nigel could win three straight. Whether he wins or loses, Pakorn and David will play each other in the first round after lunch, and the second too barring Gibsonization.

Pakorn beats Pichai 435-401, though it took them a long time to figure it out, what with the entire endgame being played in a few seconds without scores being kept (Pakorn had 0:04 second left on his clock, far more than usual), and then they started replaying alternate endings on the board in a post mortem before adding up the final score.

So Pakorn needs to win just one of his remaining three games after lunch to make it to the $10,000 finals. If he wins the first one, he's Gibsonized. (Pakorn, excited: "I've never been Gibsonized before!") David likely needs to win two (unless something unusual happens, like a tie game); Marut or Nigel would need to win three. Pakorn says he's hoping he will lose all his games, Nigel will win all three of his, and they'll both end up in the finals.

Lunchtime!
