We're waiting for Pakorn Nemitrmansuk (THA) and David Eldar (AUS), and Jason Katz-Brown (USA) and Marut Siriwangso (THA) to finish their games to complete Round 18, and Round 19 results have started to trickle in. We will be taking a dinner break before beginning Round 20; the length of that break may range from 5 to 75 minutes depending on individual players' speed of play.

I had a chance to chat briefly with Nigel Richards (NZL), who has finally managed to win two games in a row again, to climb to 10-8 and 21st place. I asked him if there was anything he might need; he said he believed he was due about a dozen esses and six blanks at this point, so I invited him to help himself to them from the replacement tile bin. I asked him if he needed any peace or quiet; he replied that he always carried a good stock of that between his ears.

Pakorn loses again to David and leads him now only on spread (they are both 14-4), but having played him three times now (he won the first time, in Round 4), he'll be moving on to playing Ming Hui Hubert Wee (SGP) next round. Hubert beat Siu Hean Cheah (SGP) to climb to 13-5, along with Chollapat Itthi-Aree (THA), who beat Kian Boon Liew (SGP) 594-344.
