Femi Awowade (Eng) scores over 500 again, as he did in his first two games, 543–406 against Evan Cohen (ISR), and ends the initial quad round robins 3–0 +579.

Josephine Mayo (MLT) scores her second 500+ game in B, 533–340 against Pauline Cilia (MLT).

Jim Lyes (Eng) scores 462 against Dan Sandu (ROM) but loses to his 490.

Linda Marguy (ISR), a 280-point rating underdog, beats Nancy Alroy (ISR) 449–372.

Eric Kinderman (ARE) loses a challenge against Mikki Nicholson (Eng) on his VERBY*, claims he learned it from Nigel Richards. Nigel was just messing with him. Mikki scores her first win, and is now 1-2 +5, after a close 414–398 victory.

We had the first really close game in B, with Eileen Meghen (IRL) beating Mary Morgan (IRL) 378–377. Just as I started to type this, Helen Gipson (Sco) walked up to my table to report the first draw: she and Esther Perrins (AUS) both scored 448.

Going into the first tea break, we have seven players undefeated in A: Femi Awowade (Eng), Sam Kantimathi (USA), Siu Hean Cheah (SGP), Howard Wilde (Eng), Craig Beevers (Eng), Chinedu Okwelogu (NGA) and Nuala O'Rourke (NIr).
