First results this round: Joe Caruana (MLT) 427 Ossie Mair (USA) 418, Evan Cohen (ISR) 479 Ruth MacInerney (Eng) 360.

The two leaders, Siu Hean Cheah (SGP) and Sam Kantimathi (USA) both lose their games this round, permitting third-place Helen Gipson (Sco) to gain first place. At Board 1, Theresa Brousson (MLT) is happy to have seen and played CARCAJOU naturally, but loses 482–459 to Craig Beevers (Eng). (Viewer Tony Leah asks if the anagram of CARCAJOU would have played: yes, but it would have placed a C in the triple alley.) Helen is 7½–1½ +621, Cheah 7–2 +652, Sam +533, Craig +216, Chinedu +117.

Femi Awowade (Eng) beats Mikki Nicholson (Eng) 487–478, surpassing the high loss record set last round. That's Mikki's third single-digit loss. There were also two very high wins this round, Bob Violett (Eng) 575–354 over Nicky Huitson (Eng) and Sanmi Odelana (NGA) 570–309 over Ami Tzubery (ISR), whose 261 spread surpasses by one a record set in Round 1. In Division B, the high game record was set this round, with Dominic Borg (MLT) 568–340 over Marion Loewenstein (ISR), also the highest combined total in B so far.

Andy Gray (Eng) won last round by four points, this round 389–386 against Marlene Calleja (MLT) by only three points, 389–386.

Daniel Milton (USA) continues undefeated, and widens his lead over his rivals to two games with a 392–313 win over second-place Mario Saliba (MLT).

Pauline Cilia (MLT) wins her second game, 360–345 over Judith Puttick (Eng), so now all players in B have at least two wins.

Teatime!
