First result this round: Nicky Huitson (Eng) 413 Teresa Lyes (Eng) 348. In B: Joe Caruana (MLT) 400 George Newman (Eng) 341.

Players are getting used to the delayed (Portland/Fontes) pairings, so we now have everyone playing Round 6, except those who are waiting to play Eric Kinderman (ARE) and Mihai Pantis (ROM), whose game had to start 15 minutes late.

Mario Seychell (MLT) has the high score in B now, with a 544–267 over Alfred Xuereb (MLT). That's the high spread at the event so far.

Sam Kantimathi (USA) has now had three consecutive 500+ wins, this round his highest yet, 548–444 against Howard Wilde (Eng), which is currently the highest game total, not quite 1000.

Undefeated after this round are only Sam Kantimathi (USA) and Chinedu Okwelogu (NGA) in A, and Daniel Milton (USA) and Mario Seychell (MLT) in B: Americans have an early lead in each division; they have an aggregate record of 16–4. Sam is averaging 495 points per game, followed by Femi Awowade (Eng) at 490, Makbul Manji points out.

It's approaching sunset. Time to close the sheers and turn on the lights.
