First in this round: Sandy Nang (USA) 475 Omri Rosenkrantz (ISR) 164. In B: Frans Farrugia (MLT) 461 Joe Caruana (MLT) 245. Frans asks if that's the highest spread so far; it is only the fourth-highest.

Mikki Nicholson (Eng) is gradually climbing back up through the weaker players at the bottom of the field. Makbul Manji points out that she has gone from 18th to 13th to 10th, on a four-game winning streak after opening with two losses.

No statistical anomalies as there were last week. In A, the starting player has a 23-point advantage; in B, 13 points.

And then there was one undefeated player in A: Chinedu Okwelogu (NGA) beats Sam Kantimathi (USA) 460–388.

Last result in this round: Daniel Milton (USA) 438 Mario Seychell (MLT) 207, following a director-interrupted recount. That leaves Daniel the only undefeated player left in B.
