CHAMPIONSHIP Thank you to Ewa Kondracka (POL) and Graham Haigh (Eng) for testing the MSI Scrabble board this round. We're still waiting to hear if last round's test created a .gcg file - it was supposed to appear automatically on a website, but didn't; I'm hoping that a technician just needs to give it a nudge. Andy Gray (Eng) finally wins a game, 474-352 vs. Pramit Kamath (IND), and now everyone in the division has won at least one game. Nigel Richards (NZL) beats Theresa Brousson (MLT) 448-289 and is now 11-0 +1959, with a record 31 consecutive wins now at ABSP play. In second and third still, Weibin Toh (SGP) 10-1 +999 and Shanker Menon (IND) +910. Helen Gipson (Sco) rallies from a shaky start and is up to fourth place now, 8-3 +980 ahead of Philip Nelkon (Eng) +754 and Wayne Kelly (Eng) +335. Nigel has been averaging 525 points per game; next in that category is Philip, at 480. Nigel's lowest score so far is still his 443-345 win over Sanmi Odelana (Eng) in Round 3. We break for lunch after this round, with play resuming at 14:00 CET. RECREATIONAL Nancy Alroy (ISR) has the first losing 400-point game, 403-459 to Paul Dundas (NLD). Their game has the highest combined score so far, 862. Suzanne Dundas (NLD) shakes off her two-game losing streak to beat Peggy Fehily (DEU) 449-327. Her husband Paul Dundas (NLD) beats 459-403, and they are now both 9-2, +1160 and +468. |
