The first game to report in was board 1: Siu Hean Cheah (SGP) 540 to Mikki Nicholson (Eng) 452. The win vaults Cheah to first place, for the time being, and the game has the highest combined score so far.

The second game was a blowout win, Dan Sandu (ROM) vs. Sandy Nang (USA). Sand-u scored 563, Sand-y 329.

Jim is optimistic that he has the live video problem worked out, and is going to try to launch the feed next round.

As usual, it takes longer than you'd think to get everything set up at a new location; this event hasn't been too bad, except for the problem with the uplink bandwidth. I'm looking forward to having enough time to finish taking new head shots for those players who need them; in the mean time, please enjoy the historic value in some of the older images. Llewellin Jegels texted me to say that Gerald Davids (ZAF) represented South Africa in 1997; I suspect his current photo might data back to then.

Refuelled by tea, six players manage to score 500 or more points this round: Tony Sim (SGP), Craig Beevers (Eng), Ruth MacInerney (Eng), Kevin Synnott (Eng), Siu Hean Cheah (SGP) and Dan Sandu (ROM), the most so far.

The field is divided into three equal classes of 14 players for prize purposes; in TSH reports, these classes are labelled A, B and C. At the end of this round, the four remaining undefeated players are Siu Hean Cheah (SGP) +404, Howard Wilde (Eng) +379, Tony Sim (SGP) +366 and Sam Kantimathi (USA) +211. The Class C leader is Geoff Cooper (Eng) in 10th place, 3-1 +192; the Class B leader is Ruth MacInerney (Eng) in 11th place, 3-1 +186. The leading Maltese player follows them in 12th place; Theresa Brousson (MLT), 3-1 +147.
